PR and Marketing Services Under the Same Roof

Rachael has been working in PR and marketing, generating positive media coverage and providing crisis management in often highly technical and extremely sensitive industries, since 1997. This makes Solution Factors unusual, because few companies provide PR and marketing services without subcontracting and without charging a retainer.

Solution Factors’ PR services include both UK and international media coverage in English-speaking outlets. Elements of these PR services include:

  • PR planning
  • generating media coverage through press releases
  • ghost-writing for industry commentators
  • feature story writing and placement
  • responding to media enquiries
  • managing media interviews
  • crisis management.

Including PR in marketing plans is an excellent way of educating an audience or maintaining visibility – particularly when your competitors proactively generate media coverage.

Examples of Solution Factors’ achievements include:

  • Providing a property consultancy with media coverage that would have cost around £20,000 in advertising space. Taking an editorial approach, it only cost £8,000.
  • Rachael has ghost-written feature articles for commentators in the financial industry. This has included a member of the Bank of England’s panel of economic stability and a member of the FSA’s governing committee.
  • Within two days of being asked to help the British Paralympic ski squad, we had arranged for them to feature in a fly-on-the-wall documentary and had set up two journalist interviews. We also helped raise funds by sourcing new contacts and writing a sponsorship proposal.
  • Solution Factors achieved extensive regional media coverage for the Extra Mile three-day charity bike ride, which involved 45 teams. We also brought in new sponsorship from Trek Bicycles, which has remained in place since.

PR planning

In many organisations, PR is a strategic tool in the marketing plan, used to gain positive media coverage. Within this, there must be a cohesive communication programme, led by your marketing messages, to avoid contradictions and to ensure that your organisation’s high-level PR messages remain consistent.

Although the occurrence of newsworthy stories is never entirely predictable, Rachael creates a tailored PR plan for each client which contains the likely frequency and timing of media coverage opportunities. When your plan is in place, you can either facilitate it in-house or use our PR and marketing services.

Press releases

Writing, distributing and monitoring press releases is a small part of our PR and marketing services. Content can be distributed to regional or national outlets or to English-speaking news publications throughout the world. Rachael has frequently generated PR coverage in:

• newspapers and magazines

• news websites

• radio programmes

• TV programmes

• social media

• newsletters.

Why use a press release content writing service?

Press releases are often the catalyst behind the news reports you see and hear in your domestic and professional life. A press release carrying a business news story is written very differently to news stories that are designed to be read or heard outside of work. If a press release is not written in a way that appeals to your target news editors, your media coverage will be limited or non-existent.

Feature story writing

If your organisation’s spokesperson is approached to provide a commentary piece or tell your story for a publication, Rachael can ghost-write it for you.

Crisis management

Rachael has managed some of the UK’s most contentious news topics – this is known as ‘crisis management’ in PR terms. This type of service is normally triggered by one or more of the following:

  • a close association with a negative news story
  • the need to avoid any media coverage
  • an external threat
  • a reputational issue.

In a crisis that could attract media attention, or which has already attracted attention, Rachael puts in place a crisis management plan within 24 hours to protect your reputation and that of your organisation.

Understanding

“Solution Factors has helped us sustainably market SpecTRAX and launch PriceTRAX to internationally known mobile technology brands. They quickly understood our complicated, highly technical products and services, proactively attracted media attention to raise awareness, wrote marketing material from scratch and produced e-bulletin campaigns. This has increased our salesforce activity using marketing to hand red-hot prospects to our internal sales teams for closing.”

Steve Entwistle, Vice President of Strategy Analytics

High Quality

“Solution Factors rapidly provided high quality, feature-length press coverage in key regions.”

Mark Standish, Former Partner at Mazars LLP, now Head of Corporate Finance at Fortus Business Advisors & Accountants

Clear Communication

“Solution Factors extended the reach of our advertising budget by generating substantial press coverage. They clearly communicated our messages in newsworthy releases and features across a range of contrasting and complex property markets. This has helped us continue to grow, despite an adverse economic climate.”
